Churches Are Getting Better Lighting

When the leader of our Ukulele group first announced we’d got a gig with a really large audience no-one was more surprised than me to discover he’d booked in at our local church! It was such a resounding success and all twenty-two members of the group agreed we couldn’t have found a more appreciative audience. We have since returned many times each time gaining big numbers to great acclaim. We even resolved their problem in that there was no church stage lighting when we began playing there and it really needed to be lit up, not just for us obviously but for the services too.

Once I got chatting to the new young pastor he was immediately switched on to the idea (puns are irresistible sometimes aren’t they?!). He had brought a whole new audience to us and is clearly way ahead in his thinking about congregation and neighbourhood, we gained his commitment to the lighting idea quickly because it really is important to a large group like ours (25 on a good day). The stage in this church was erected a few years back by a very kind local carpenter and it is perfectly big enough, not too high and with ramp access - and apparently he did that for the cost of materials only. When we set to researching the kinds of lighting we knew it would cost a bit so we agreed that we’d collect every time the Ukulele group played in the Church and all the money would go towards the lighting fund.

Church Stages and Lighting Effects

It’s all been set up now - one of our group is a qualified electrician and the pastor has taught a few of the younger ones how to operate the console for services. We also get help to illuminate all of us when we do our concerts too. It’s made such a difference as you can imagine not only because we can be seen, but we can see our music scores perfectly and as we implore audience participation they are able to see the leader under the spotlight as he turns and indicates the next tune for singing along to. It’s very rewarding to all our members that this church stage lighting was funded just by half a dozen ukulele performance concerts. you can learn more about Churches and their lighting techniques at: https://stage-lighting-gurus.com/church-stage-lighting-top-5-guide/
